The Department of Human Ecology’s Clothing and Textiles Collection is pleased to announce the launch of the Grace Haydu Bazley Visual Thesaurus of Quilting Terminology. The project, in memory of the Department alumna, and with the assistance of a matching grant from the Museums and Collections Services Community Outreach Endowment Fund, provides context for the 700+ quilts and related items held in the Clothing and Textiles Collection. The Visual Thesaurus highlights, defines, and explains quilting terminology using subject entries in the online Collection database for quilting materials, techniques, designs, and tools. These are all linked to corresponding artifacts in the Collection, which can be browsed using these subject terms.
