Protective Clothing and Equipment Research Facility

The Protective Clothing and Equipment Research Facility at the University of Alberta was created in 2002 from funding provided by the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI), the Alberta Science and Research Authority (ASRA), and various industry and government partners.

The new facilities and equipment broaden the scope of thermal protective testing and research capabilities. They facilitate research to develop dynamic models of heat and moisture transfer in high heat flux environments, and to address simultaneously the conflicting phenomena of protection and comfort. They also facilitate further collaboration with industry and government in the development of innovative protective materials, test protocols and equipment.
